The idea behind this year's concert was to showcase the diversity of musical styles that students are capable of performing here at the Music College, and the standard of music on offer was high. We were particularly pleased to see so many students of all ages involved, from those in Year 7 to our Year 13 leavers such as Joel Stedman and Louis Morris who have given so much to the life of music at the College over the years. It was also fantastic to see so many of the students' friends and family there to support the evening, as without an audience there wouldn't be a concert!
The Thursday evening event was followed on Friday night by a collaborative performance with six local primary schools at Sterts Theatre. The evening was named A Right Old Song and Dance, with the idea being that the students would put on a ‘Variety Show'. Students from the College played the role of the house band, with Andy Baker of the BSO working with us to put together an Orchestra for the evening. Again, the event was a great success and the students had the opportunity to come together and perform in a wonderful local venue.
Big thanks to all the music staff involved, the music support group for providing refreshments, Vospers for sponsoring the event and most importantly to the students who gave it their all. Bring on next year!
