This year saw an excellent attendance of 69% of all Y7 students attending one of the two evening concerts in which class band and solo performances were showcased.
Each of the eight music classes in year 7 performed two pieces arranged for keyboards, xylophones, voice and percussion. These pieces included well known popular classics such as Lean On Me and Don't Stop Believin', and modern greats such as Chasing Cars and Use Somebody.
Each class also offered solo performances. The audience was delighted by wonderful piano, guitar and clarinet solos (amongst many others) and vocal solos, duets and trios. Both concerts also included a mass choir performance of Together As One and Callington Taiko enthralled the audience with Mount Fuji and Shimabayahsi.
For many in the year group this was their first experience of performing musically in public and as always for all students it was a valuable and worthwhile experience. It is an incredible achievement at the end of only one term at Callington Community College that the youngsters can perform to such a high standard in a public showcase. These concerts were a marvellous opportunity for the students to show off their newly acquired musical skills, and gain confidence in their performance.
Many thanks to all parents and members of staff who came and watched. We can't underestimate how important it is for the youngsters to see a familiar face in the audience.
