The Music sector is a dynamic area of the performing arts and many of its skills are transferable between the different areas of the larger genre.

Career opportunities for people working, or wishing to work, in the music industry are wide and varied. Careers in the sector range from singing with a pop band to music publishing with many different options in between.

This course aims to give learners the opportunity to gain understanding and practical skill in a variety of areas of this complex industry; solo performance skills and rehearsal technique, performing as an ensemble, the history of music, improvisation, and arts management. The course includes units about the industry, which will enable learners to see the different roles and options that are available to them. There is also the opportunity for learners to gain an understanding of the different working patterns within the industry, especially working as a freelancer.

This course is suitable for students who wish to focus on their solo and group performance skills.  It is applicable to both classical and pop / rock / jazz musicians.
